This innovative retail store designed by San Francisco-based Design Within Reach (DWR), a retailer of well-designed furnishings and accessories, commissioned longtime Airstream collaborator Chris Deam to come up with a holistic model for an Airstream that would perfectly telegraph the shared vision of both DWR and Climb’s core values of authorship and curated authority in design.
Stacey Lim of Stacey Lim Designs was tapped to work with local and European designers to provide the dramatic flooring and the engineered textiles for the dinette cushions and window treatments, as well as Italian laminate countertops and perforated metal accents. The interior also includes a high quality Sony sound system, flat screen TV, and wireless internet. The exterior features prominent yet understated branding. Climb’s DWR Airstream is a mere 16 feet, 7 inches in length; although compact, the efficiency of design is simple, yet incredibly functional. The exterior features Airstream’s famously sleek aluminum skin design and a custom pull-out awning. The interior incorporates a new design sensibility, unique materials, and modern classic furnishings including a clock by Nelson Ball and coat rack by British designer Tom Dixon.
The DWR Airstream travel trailer is a mobile mini store. At 120 square feet, it is one of the smallest real estate storefronts to date, which will allow it to be placed in a variety of new locations to allow consumers to interact with Climb Real Estate agents and appeal to a wide range of customers. Look for the Climb Airstream at agent open houses, new development openings, community events and street fairs.
