Matt Finley, Senior Sales Associate

Born and raised in Southern California, Matt spent much of his adolescence in his Los Angeles suburb participating in competitive sports, his favorite of which was baseball. He even went on to play in college as a pitcher and later earned his B.A. degree in Sociology from Chico State University.

Charmed by San Francisco's diversity, culture and vitality, Matt relocated to the City in the late 1990s, where he worked as an Area Sales manager for Apple One recruiter firm with offices in the downtown financial district as well as Marin County. All the while simultaneously embarking upon a career as a private real estate investor; this, at the prompting of his brothers, who themselves were investing in the then real estate boom in the Palm Springs area. After several successful transactions, Matt soon realized that his true passion lay in real estate. Today, Finley Bros. Investments remains a thriving enterprise with myriad single family and multi-unit property holdings throughout California and Oregon.

After working briefly in the real estate resale market, Matt acted intuitively on his industry observations of marketplace trends by transitioning his career into the Developer-Consumer market in the mid 2000's, where he began working for Pacific Marketing Associates. It was here that his desire to expand upon his real estate knowledge-base paid dividends. One of his first major projects, Bay Street One in Emeryville, CA, lasted from 2004 through 2006, whereby Matt was a leading seller of 95 ‘mixed-use', urban-living units. The project sold out in record time. Consequent to his rapid success, he was selected as part of the lead team to represent PMA's most notable project to date, where Matt continued in his leading role at the luxury condominium project, "One Rincon Hill"-the tallest residential tower west of the Mississippi River, standing at an impressive 60 stories, and boasting 690 units, including 14 townhomes.

Representing the developer of One Rincon Hill, Matt received an intensive education in real estate economics and finance, giving him a deep understanding of the complexities and nuances associated with major real estate developments. Likewise, and in order to ascend to one of the top producing agent there, Matt always took to heart the wants and needs of prospective buyers. Matt says it best himself, "This experience at One Rincon Hill taught me to strategize on how to bring people together, with different goals, and negotiate the best possible outcome for both parties such that they are both better off: On the one hand, I had to understand the Developers' overall goals, from sales and marketing, to finance, disclosure, punch list, buyer walkthrough's, deadlines and ultimately, closings; while on the other hand, I had to really learn to empathize with my clients, the potential buyers, and their needs, without which any development is rendered useless." Matt continues: "San Francisco, or more namely, SOMA, is not only the focus of my business; it's also my home, and I therefore want to make the biggest impact possible on the area." As a result of his rich experience, serving both developer and buyer alike, and even a homeowner at One Rincon Hill, Matt chose to leave his current post to represent solely individual buyers and sellers in the Rincon Hill-SOMA niche market, across many developments. And there is none better than Matt Finley to assume such a post, where his "insider" vantage point seeks to find him serving as both the consummate professional advocate, and advisor alike, to all interested in entering or leaving this burgeoning new community.

Matt's personal interests include golfing, where he now boasts he recently improved his score to the high 80's, and triathlons. He was introduced to the sport of Triathlons by Teams in Training, a fundraising charity supporting the leukemia society. He has competed in several San Francisco triathlons, including Treasure Island and the famed, Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. Matt makes his home at One Rincon Hill with his new wife, Dawn, and is planning a family.

Testimonials:

"I unhesitatingly recommend Matt. He's worked with me for a over 2 months. What sets him apart from other real estate people I've dealt with is that HE LISTENS. He shows me properties that fit my specs, and then he asks me if I'd consider something different, or a different neighborhood. If I say yes, he'll line me with a few properties right away. He works tirelessly, doesn't put undue pressure on me to buy something, and is always in a good mood."

-Steve L. , San Francisco CA
