We have loved owning our building at 129-131 College Avenue. This home has seen us through many milestones and holds many of our family memories. We have had amazing tenants throughout the years and enjoyed sharing our space and building friendships with other families. We have been so happy living here and we know you will be also.
In San Francisco, your neighborhood is almost like an extension of your home. Located on the border of Bernal Heights and Glen Park, this neighborhood has so much to offer. It’s an easy walk to get to all the wonderful shops, restaurants, and farmer’s markets in both neighborhoods, and also to walk to Noe Valley and the Mission. You will find both small hidden gems and San Francisco’s favorites, such as pizza at Gialina, ice cream at Mitchell’s, and wonderful playgrounds at Holly Park, St. Mary’s Park, and Upper Noe Rec Center. We also regularly take advantage of hikes and runs at beautiful Glen Canyon and Bernal Hill with its gorgeous city and bay views. Just down the block, you’ll find the best pupusas in the world at Balompie, a great cup of coffee at Cafeto, and up and down the street are some of the nicest neighbors you’ll ever meet. We’ve been particularly impressed by the organization and ambition of the College Hill Neighborhood Association (CHNA). The CHNA is driving positive change for the micro-neighborhood – public art installations, organizing block parties, community barbecues and they have the ear of our Supervisor, Scott Weiner, who is a regular attendee to the CHNA events.
The transit options near 129-131 College Ave are fantastic. We have very easy highway access to both 101 and 280 and can walk to the Glen Park BART station in under ten minutes. There are also all of the Mission buses, the J Church line is a short walk, as are many of the tech commuter bus stops. Overall, this neighborhood provides an excellent combination between the excitement of city living and also the ease of transportation and the beauty of nature.
As much as we have enjoyed the neighborhood, we might have loved our home even more! We fell in love with the original period details – the art tiles on the fireplace surround, the beautiful hardwood floors and moldings, the original light fixtures, the cute and functional breakfast nook. Over time we also expanded into the tiny footprint we have in our entryway – building out our home office, which is an amazing space to close yourself off from the rest of the house and concentrate to get work done. Another little feature we ended up finding very useful was the security gate – every morning, we’d leave it open and when we returned UPS/USPS/FedEx would have delivered our packages and closed the gate behind them (No more lugging boxes home from work or tracking things down at the post office.) We loved utilizing the back bedroom for our kids. It was especially useful when they were each infants because it was just a few steps to their room to sooth them back to sleep. We have also really enjoyed our backyard – both for bbq’s and parties with friends, as well as a good spot to throw a ball or blow some bubbles with the kids.
